- 20th December – 4th January: I spent a long time thinking about my music video and what I wanted to do. I drew up several ideas for different songs, finally deciding on Naughty Boy Runnin’ (Lose It All) by Naughty Boy ft. Beyoncé Arrow Benjamin
- 9th -10th January: I prepared to book out all the equipment I needed for the days of shooting. I conformed my transport to and back from Nizwa, accommodating enough for myself, a supervising adult, Cynthia, my equipment and personal belongings. I reserved a night’s stay at a hotel in Nizwa, and booked a time slot of 10am to 6pm at the 5-star resort in Jabal Al Akhdar, also in Nizwa. The drive from Muscat to Nizwa took roughly two hours, and the one from our hotel in Nizwa to the resort took two and a half. Since this was a long way away from home, I had to make sure I had a strict time schedule and an exact idea of what I wanted to shoot, and where. The next day I drew up a detailed shooting plan, tested all my equipment to make sure it worked properly, and once again, confirmed all necessary reservations.
- 11th- 12th January: At 6pm, we set off to Nizwa, and scoured the small town for a dark road where I could capture some shots. We spent 2 hours filming at the dark, road and then went to check in to our hotel rooms. The next morning we set out early at 8pm, but not before I pre-set all my equipment so that I could start filming as soon as we arrived without wasting any extra time setting up. After filming for nearly 5 hours I felt satisfied with my footage as I kept reviewing it each time we took a short break; so we left the premises at 6pm and got home at 10pm. Overall, I was satisfied and grateful that nothing had gone wrong during this successful shoot. I would have liked to film more scenes at the dark road, however, we did not have enough time to do so, and hence I had to try to find a way around that little hiccup. Nevertheless, the shoot was largely successful, as I had also been able to film small portions of the resort: like the fountains, the textured surface of the water, the beautiful sky, sunlight shining through trees, etc. I also started to review all my footage to find the best possible options for my music video, as I started to edit it using Adobe Premiere Pro.
- 14th January: After having filming a large portion of my music video I decided to film Cynthia lip-syncing to the song in the filming studio in front of a projector, so that I could use whatever visuals I felt matched the song. Here I used visuals of beautiful underwater footage as an homage to the original music video. I also played several clips of visual graphics that matched the beat of the song, like the black and white flashing visual.
- 14th - 27th January: I spent a large amount of time editing my music video, spending at least 5 hours a day editing. While this was exhausting the final results paid off.
